How to heat a garden pool?
In our climate, owners of expansion or freestanding garden pools may face a cold water problem. There are several ways to do this - here we will focus on those that require the least complicated solutions.
Solid brick pools are easier to heat because they can be permanently connected to a domestic heating system, such as heat exchangers that use excess heat from a central heating furnace. In the case of a swimming pool that is only open for the season, the thing is harder - what to do if we do not have a fixed installation or do not want to increase the operating costs of the boiler? We can help by using a simple, not complicated assembly device of several types, each of which can either increase the temperature of the water by several degrees or prevent it from cooling down. By applying them at the same time, we can achieve a better effect overall. In the case of small, seasonal pools, it is better not to invest in expensive heat pumps. In the warmer months, it seems natural to use renewable energy sources, but if this is not currently possible, there are other ways.
Most people who do not belong to the walrus fraternity prefer swimming in water with temperatures well above 20 degrees Celsius or even closer to 30 degrees. If we find that the temperature is too low, we can start the device. And how?
Electric water heater
Not the worst, very effective solution for small pools is to use an electric water heater. It works by heating the water flowing through the device with an electric heater. The Bestway water heater available in our offer is easy to install and its maximum heating power is 40 ° C. It is recommended for swimming pools with a volume of 1520-17035 l. The heater requires a filter pump to operate. You can set it for several hours of operation during the night - the pool will be ready for use by morning. Heaters of this type should be adapted to the capacity of the tank, the place where it is located and, above all, the needs and capabilities of the user. Also financial, as the operating costs of such equipment are sometimes relatively high.
Solar water heaters are popular due to significantly lower operating costs. These can be boards or plastic mats installed on the ground or on the roof. The pool filter pump pumps water to the solar collectors, where it is heated and then returned to the pool. The solar heating mats available in our country are economical, easy to use and do not take up much space and can increase the water temperature by up to 5 ° C. They are ecological and environmentally friendly. All you have to do is connect the washer to the filter pump and nature itself will ensure that the water in your tank is pleasantly warm. In the case of a larger pool, you can even attach several pads to it (you can easily connect them) - their number should be appropriately chosen according to the size of the pool. The mat is made of strong PVC. It's easy to carry and carry.
How to protect water from cooling?
After heating the water, you should take care to limit heat loss. It is worth thinking about placing the pool in a sunny place in advance. Heating will also be more efficient if the unused pool is covered with foil, blinds or a cover specifically designed for the model. The water cools mainly due to evaporation and heat transfer to a colder environment. The intense movement of air around the exposed tank increases the temperature leakage through the water surface - it loses stored heat depending on the strength and speed of the wind, humidity and outside temperature. If we cover the pool properly, the losses will be smaller and reheating will only require a few degrees, which can be ensured by the equipment described above. The roof of the pool also plays a different role - it protects the inside of the pool from dirt and prevents children from entering it unattended.
However, the cover is uneven. Conventional pool covers only slightly slow down heat loss. Solar covers made of special material provide much better results. By swimming on the water surface, they not only prevent the water from cooling down, but also increase its temperature, because they accumulate solar heat inside the tank. The INTEX solar cover is made of double bubble wrap. Placement on the water surface on a warm, sunny day guarantees its rapid warming. However, when used overnight, it will prevent it from cooling down quickly, and the next day it will take little time to warm up. Assembly time is also only 5 minutes. This type of pool cover does not fit snugly to the sides of the tank.
Or is the solution just a hot tub?
Finally, we have a completely different kind of design. If we don't need a large free-swimming pool and just need an intimate and comfortable place to relax for a few people - why not buy an inflatable spa from our INTEX or Bestway products, the world's leading pool manufacturers, instead of a stand-mounted expansion or garden pool? The problem of water heating will also be solved in one go, and as a bonus we will also receive a relaxing and healthy hydromassage.
The walls of the inflatable jacuzzi, made using special technologies, provide much higher comfort than in the case of an ordinary swimming pool. At your request, the whirlpool will be filled without blinking with a cloud of thousands of heated bubbles made of many jets in the walls and bottom, which will give the feeling of a relaxing, warm massage of the whole body. Bubbles flow around the body under the influence of pressure, healing the body. Water massage has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect and also has a beneficial effect on blood pressure. Depending on the model and system used, the number of nozzles varies, and you can use the intuitive control panel to set the direction in which the bubbles will flow, the force with which they will massage you, and the water temperature. The water in such a whirlpool can be heated to about 40 degrees. Therefore, most importantly, whenever you want, you can choose to relax in the fresh air and warm water, regardless of the weather and outdoor temperatures. The prices of inflatable baths are not exaggerated - so maybe this is the best way to have a hot water garden pool?
